Jo and I arrived in Wellington at 8h40pm after a eleven and a half hour bus trip down the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. Thank heavens for my Kindle and the movies on our phones. Mind you, some of the scenery that we travelled through was really beautiful - especially in the mountains.
Spent the next 7 days with my sister and her fiancé and the rest of the family - what a mad house. We'll need a holiday after this.
Also attended their wedding at the gorgeous little St Paul's church in Wellington (where I walked my sister down the aisle) and the reception afterwards at the Gear Homestead in Porirua. A truly special night.
Apart from the wedding, we also took in the sights and sounds of Wellington, had a BBQ with some Kiwi's on new year's eve, experienced 3 days and 4 nights of non-stop rain and wind - nothing out of the norm for Wellington apparently.
We also visited the Weta Cave - a behind-the-scenes look at Weta Workshop, best known for its design and effects work on films such as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong, The Chronicles of Narnia and Avatar - to name but a few. Really cool!
