So yet another plane ride via Qantas to 'The other city'. Only an hour this time, I'm becoming a dab hand at packing and traveling. I had to be at the airport at the unsociable time of 5am but I'm so used to it now it didn't even phase me. My BA travel pillow and blanket that I 'borrowed' from my first flight is starting to look a little worn. The pillow is beginning to bobble and fray, but the blanket is in pristine condition and both have served me well. Melbourne Victoria - it has a much more European feel to it than Sydney, as far as cities go I really liked it, it's got a lot of soul and a lot to offer. I sound like an add for the Australian tourist board but it's true. It was helped by the fact that I stayed with a friend who was the perfect host and ferried me around all over the city. It's all about the people these days. I loved all the factory outlet stores, you could shop yourself silly in Melbourne! But I had to keep reminding myself that I'm going to Bali at the end of the week and if I think outlet stores are cheap in Melbourne, in Bali I can half that and then half it again, and how annoyed would I be if I got to Bali and I had no room in my suitcase! I also loved the trams and all the back lane cafes dotted around the city centre, great to sit outside on a beautiful summer's day and watch the city go by. Speaking of summer, I can't get my head around the fact that Christmas is upon us. I watched the Christmas lights get turned on in Byron Bay complete with Santa Clause in a red wolly outfit with fake snow, it was 85 degrees that day! I was sat in a café on Bondi Beach in my bikini last week and they were playing Christmas songs. It just doesn't seem right. Rudolph seems weird when the sun is beating down on you.
