Ah it's kind of comforting to be in a city again, or maybe it's because Sydney has been full of familiar faces and I'm staying with a friend on Bondi Beach, it doesn't get much better than that. I've slowly slipped out of the backpacker lifestyle of 2 for 1 happy hours, 15 free drinks vouchers for bars you can't seem to find. I'm no longer carrying around a Coles chiller bag with my food essentials and I've taken off my Peter Pans yellow wristband for 15 minutes free internet. No longer look like an advert for Budget Travel UK.
So Sydney, lots to keep me occupied. I've walked the Harbor Bridge, been to the rocks, seen the opera house and walked aimlessly around the city and run into three different sets of people I've met at different stages in my travel adventure. I've seen some beautiful beaches and watched TV for the first time in about 2 months. There's a busy weekend of fun and frolics ahead I'm planning to hit the clubbing scene, go to a few parties and even go to a real Aussie house for diner. Waw! What can I say, it's another new era in The Flashpacker Diaries.
I've also had time to sort through all the junk I seem to have accumulated along the way. There's an event I call the Travelers Fair where people in your dorm room going on to other countries off load the stuff they don't need, if done quite well bagging a lonely planet for NZ and Australia, sunblock, a rain coat, a set of speakers for my MP3 player, sunglasses, shoes, food of all descriptions, an umbrella and loads of other useful items. It's funny how the simplest things become so useful when you have no base, for example plastic bags have endless uses, I use them for everything, can't get enough of them. I'm also confused about the countless items of clothing and other items I seem to have lost I don't know where, yet my suitcase still seems to be getting heavier by the day. I just don't get it.
