After a weekend of farewell parties, we are now moved out of our house. It was a lot more work than we had expected to pack the house up. Essentially it was the same amount of work as if we were permanently moving. Nonetheless, we did a terrific purge of long overheld possessions and cleaned little corners of the place that hadn't seen soap or a dust cloth in many years. The new tenants move in today and we have a good feeling that things will work fine with them. Kind of sad hearing the echoes in the kids' empty bedrooms and locking the door for the last time, but very exciting to get moving.
This time in one week we will be making our way to the Liard Highway - destination Blackstone campground near Nahanni National Park. Then up the Alaska Highway to Muncho Lake, Whitehorse, Dawson City, the Dempster Highway and Skagway for our ferry to Washington. I hope the year ahead doesn't go as fast as the one behind us.
