well today (13th sept) we started our first day of scuba diving at crystal dive resort in ko tao. this was generally an intro into what wel be doing over the next few days and we also watched a few videos aswell as fill out some question papers. we then retreated to our free accomodation which was ... lets say basic but on the plus side it had a tv! we have had no hot water and our bed cover was a large branded towel .
day 2 (14th) today we met our instructor called dirk he instantly reminded us of robin williams but a german robin williams who spoke english. we were made up only as a small group which was me and kirsty aswell as another 3 . we were in the classroom again watching some videos etc then in the afternoon we got to setup our scuba gear and head out to the pool area for some more training.
day 3 (15th) today we done a few survival training techniques like float on water for ten minutes and also swim ten laps of a pool without stopping. after lunch we went out into the sea by boat for our first real dive! we were suited and booted with all our gear then jumping straight off the boat and into the sea, our first dive took us to a beginner dive point which was only about 12metres deep. we were right beside the fishes and coral it was easily one of the best things that we have ever done. we were under the water about 45 mins for that dive then we went back to the boat to get a new oxygen tank and rest then we were straight back out on another dive sitting at the bottom of the sea removing our masks completley from our heads and putting them back on and clearing the mask of water with our noses. these were all tasks we had to complete to do our training succesfully.
day 4 (16th) today was pretty much the same as yesterday which was 2 dives but from different locations around the ko tao island plus it was deeper under the water we were going (the full 18metres). again it was excellent the fishes and jellyfish and seahorses. after that we came back , got our photo taken for our PADI diving licence card and that was that.
wel keep yous posted were just staying in ko tao until 19th then heading to thailand airport for the 20th to fly out to oz.
