Feliz Navidad, as they say here. yesterday we celebrated Christmas in La Paz. Rebeccas bag finally got here in the afternoon, which was great since it contained the Christmas presents. Our Christmas lunch and dinner consisted of sushi and Cuban dishes, which was not the most traditional for the hollyday, but then we went for the midnight service in one of the biggest churches in La Paz. It was a bit of an experience it seemed to have a lot of new age elements. The priest was a big man with long white hair and a long white beard wearing a headband and flowing white robes. He actually loocked more like one would imagine a druid, than a catholic priest in a San Fransiscan church. The songs also seemed to have a lot of a seventies sound to them accented by the simple guitar acompagniement and the choir could not always hit the right keys. It was a very odd experience and we wonder whether it was a typical Bolivian service, we might try another just to find out, but it still got us a bit into the Christmas mood. Today half the city was closed, because it is officially a holliday (the only one for Christmas) and we have relaxed, walked around the city and roughly planned our travel route for the next few weeks. The day after tomorrow we will go to Cocabamba, then Sucre, then Potosi, then Uyuni before returning to La Paz where we will do some trekking after having become aclimatised to the height and then we will go to the low land jungle before continuing to Brazil.
