New Zealand part 2......
Wow what a sweet as couple of weeks, been hitting the extreme sports hard since my last blog! 134m bungy anyone?!This drop even scared me a little, apparently the Nevis jump has recently been promoted to the second biggest bungy in the world.....after the one in South Africa had been forced to close due to someone killing themselves there......hmmm didn'tfind this out till after i did mine! So 8 seconds of free falling looking straight down to the rock floor approaching u faster and faster........then u silently pray the rope will take effect! Truelly awesome feeling! This however wasn't enough to scare me so i decided to sign up for the canyon swing the following day - this involved a similar freefalling experience coupled with a massive swing across the canyon oh and the guys that run the place basically messing u around a whole lot! Twas funny, first of all u choose your jump position (theres like 10 to choose from), then they screw around with u lots pretending your gonna fall at any point, then when u least expect it they cut the cord or just push u! Really enjoyed this jump, so much i did 2! Lol! Queenstown is the action place and so did the above 2 here and also embraced a bit of lugeing......which is surprisingly dangerous, i skidded off the track quite a few times! Starting to think maybe the whole no fear approach doesn't work at all times......
Ok so all that was in Queenstown , which incidently a place i can defiantly see myself living, has a wicked vibe about the place, all these activities are right on your doorstep and its set in a gorgeous setting. Nick and myself set off for a 6hr hike one day up the mountains behind the town and wow what a view off the lake, the snow capped mountains in the distance and the paragliders circling below us.....surreal.
Before Queenstown we travelled all the way down the west coast on the Kiwi Bus, which has been fab atmosphere, as demonstrated by the Poo Pub night, in which we all stay in this old pub in the middle of nowhere, have big bbq cooked by Les the 86yr old owner, then everyone gets dressed up for a beach party theme.....as im sure some of u have seen me busting out the mermaid look on Facebook......hmmm scary huh! V good night thou, even if i did have to hop everywhere all night long!
One massive highlight i cant leave out was the Franz Joseph Glacier Hike, spent all day walking up the worlds fastest moving glacier, weaving in, out, over and under these epic cravasses....i went in group 1 and so ended up being only the 2nd person up the glacier that day, carving some form of a route for the groups following out of my crampon......felt like a true arctic explorer like some of my heroes.......quality!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Kiwi Family, Nick, Fab, Laura, Emily, Hayley, Fiona & Charlotte for a wicked few weeks travelling with u guys......
After Queenstown and the family split up Nick and myself headed back up north to Wellington, stopping on the way however for a bit of Grade 5 White Water Rafting, scary stuff, especially consideringthe 2 boats behind us flipped on the big fall.....causing us to rescue some very freighted people that were sweeping past us.....
So the future.......2 more weeks round the north island then Aus....times a flying huh!
Ok think thats everything, there probs is more but i will just bore u, especially if your sitting reading this sipping your 3rd coffee of the day and trying to stay awake from behind your desk, get back to work slackers.........
PS. no comments about me being the real slacker, 4 months off should be made compulsory in all work places!
Epic Love xx
