After another mosquito infested night we woke early for our first packed touristy day as a group. We opened the curtain and it was pouring it down. O well as tourists are we were adant to still go see our sites. We started by heading to a beautiful Hindu temple where bishan ( our tour leader) gave us an indepth view into the history and culture and gave a very detailed description about the statues, carvings and paintings. We then proceeded on to the parliament house and india gate where we got soaked to the skin from the terrential rain that just hadn't stopped ( the one plus was the lack of traffic). After our poor attempt at rainy pictures at the gate, we moved on to the muhatma Gandhi memorial site. Aneautful memorial it consisted of a continuously burning flame that I eished ee could have seen on a lighter day as it would probably have been more enlightening. after claiming back our soaked shoes ( which were surrounded bt dogs) we proceeded on to the largest mosque in india, the jama masjid. After leaving our shoes outside ( and wondering whether I would ever see them again!) we wondered inside the impressive mosque. We opted to go up the tower and were not disappointed. A stunning view it over the city including the red fort that lay nearby and a stunning view over the sprawling Delhi metropolis that surrounded us. The following whirlwind of events are a crazy story that can wait for another time, but I can tell you I was very happy once we reached our hotel! We proceeded the rest of the day chilling and having a very Indian pizza hut beers vodka and chocolate. A good chilled end to a very bad day.....
