Back on the slopes
Chrsitmas was very peaceful. I spent it with my parents. I probably ate too much. Who doesn't at Christmas.
On Monday I hopped on the coach to Czestochowa to meet up with my two friends, Ania and Kasia. We went out to a lovely pub called Oslo (http://www.czenstochovia.pl/index.php). It is famous for great selection of homemade wheat and root beers which Mark (Taylor) would definitely appreciate.I, obviously, was not drinnking wheat (EVIL) beer but vodka. It did not end verty well for me. I hadf a massive hangover next day and was extremely greatfull that we didn't have to drive to Zakopane till next day.
We set out on Wednesday morning. The roads were trecherous and very icy. It took us almost 6 hours, instead of usual 3, to get to the mountains. But once we got there it was worth the long journey: sunny, frosty (-6 Celsius) and fabulous.
Next day I weas ready to ski. The girls decided to hit the town, and check whether it's worth it's nickname: the winter capital of Poland. I hit the slopes.
I have a new technique now. First two days I warm up on snowblades - short version of skis (http://www.paris-sports.co.uk/ebay%20058.jpg). They are very manouverable and use little energy so they are perfect to get one's balance back on track. And they are real fun.
I then moved to normal skis. It was a fantastic season. I had a plan to stay there for weeks but I completely forgotten that my fitness level would only last a week, LOL!
Still it was a good week.
Now I'm back in Lodz, getting ready for the Asian adventure and baking meringues - my new addiction. I blame Pam (Hendon) for making a super yummy meringue for my birthday.
Off to the kitchen now:)
