As our departure date came ever nearer, we were keeping a watchful eye on various news sites monitoring the flood situation in Bangkok. Although international flights have not yet been affected, we started to think that maybe we didn't want to be in a city with a population of 12 million when everyone is trying to get out.
Qantas were offering re-routing to Singapore or Hong Kong so we decided to go to Singapore instead. Although this put paid to the River Kwai jungle raft stay we had been so looking forward to.
All done and sorted... or so we thought! The next day we awoke to a phone call from a friend who has booked the same flights as us informing us that all Qantas flights have been grounded. Great! However, in a massive stroke of luck, upon changing our flight to Singapore we had been allocated tickets on a plane operated by British Airways (who share flights with Qantas). Phew.
We're banking on Qantas sorting out this industrial dispute before our next scheduled Qantas flight from Singapore to Brisbane on the 26th November. Fingers crossed!
