Bula from Fiji!!
So we officially lasted 6 days in New Zealand, well done us. The day after Gisbourne we drove back up to Taupo which we were told was the 'adrenalin capital' of New Zealand. Personally wouldn't agree ourselves, but at least we got to do a bungee jump there. Both a little nervous, I was quite literally pooin my pants (but at least was nice and light for the jump). Sheree threw herself off first, did the weirdist little scream when she was already about halfway down :s. I was gutted I didn't go first though when I found out that she'd accidentally revealled her tat-tat-tattybojangles to the world. We didn't purchase the dvd.
That night we managed to change our flights, but because we'd had to wait all day for english time it was quite late at night, and we then had a 5 hour race back up to Auckland so we could catch our flight which we decided would be a great idea to book for the very next day. We arrived in Auckland at about 3 oclock in the morning, when it was far too late to find anywhere to sleep. So, in true pikey style we parked up on the street and jumped in the back. Tumblin out of that van with tuffs of hair everywhere in the mornin was probably one of the most shameful experiences of my life. We then had to sort out the back of the van while an abundance of 'young professionals' went past on their way to work, clearly judging us!
The guy at the campervan hire place looked like he was goin to cry when we told him we'd been robbed, claiming he was a 'proud new zealander' and hated it when stuff like that happend! So he payed for our breakfast and refunded some of our money (the free grub wud've been enough for me).
We're now in Fiji pretty much loving it :). Everyone is so friendly and the weather is actually just perfect (no more profuse sweatin for us!). We did get dragged into a 'Kava' ceremony tother day which we didn't quite understand. The guy told us he was taking us to tourist information to find restaurants...instead he was just trying to sell us some trips to the islands. Mugs as always!
Off to Manta Island tomorrow which we're really looking forward to, I'm hoping to do a (no cage) dive with sharks! Will keep you all updated as always :)
Lots of love
Dave and Sheree
