With half the Vinoun gang out of action with the lergy or just not feeling too great, I decided to go on a bit of a solo mission down to the city centre to check out more of the electic business hub. I started off down the Julan Ampang (Jalan means road), and walked the 2miles along, passing random malls, Finish, British and Thai embassys, some British steak restaurant which dressed up the outside with London underground signs and an actual train. Didn't take too long to hit the two pretronas towers, about 40mins i reckon.
The first place i went into was the Suria KLCC mall underneith the towers, pretty much every high end posh shops you get any where in the world was there. Looked an expensive place, loads of different levels to it. Checked it out for a while, and even found a clothes shop that sold clothes, which they thought Londoners wore, something akin to some snotty nosed, "Harrr harr, snort, rather bloody spiffing yarr" Henley on thames boat boy fashion, with the jumper rapped around the neck.
I checked out the KL city park behind the towers after that, very picturesque, all sculpted and designed really well. A place unlike central park from the movies, most of the people where there were out jogging in a long river of people doing the burn in between meetings. Also some Malaysian aerobics was being carried out in one part of the park, with fifty odd women, to some funky tunes. After that i ambled down to Penar Seni in china town to check out the shopping down there.
Kinda knew which direction to go, but because it was so mish mash down there and it was going dark. Lucky i had the map, and my superhuman sense of direction. Hit Petaling Street first, a crucifix shaped market place, with cheap goods ranging from fake watches, t-shirts, souvenier stalls and nicely copied handbags. A dream for my mum and sister then.
Penar Seni held the Central Market building, which held some more interesting more kosha gear. Although the only thing i bought was a cheap wrist band, the rest of it looked pretty good, but i had no need for it. Whole place looked like you'd find it in some Morrocan bazaar, held me there for a couple of hours with the variety. Some imprompt traditional Malaysian dance group had kicked off near by, dressed in all manner of colourful gear. With the randomness of the place i thought they'd break into some robotic moves and head spinning. Grabbed a train back to Ampang in the end, i was too knacked to bother walking back. Yowch! My legs ached by the end of the day, and i was a massive sweat ball.
