MARK "hey guys, hope you are all well, those that are still bothering to check what we are up too that is. Well as you already know we all made it too Asia, its very different here compared with South Africa as you'd imagine but we are having a great time still. Again, sorry if i repeat anything the other guys have wrote.
Our first stop in Asia was singapore, a nice little country, very humid, was about 75% which is the lowest it gets but that was too hot for us, because of the humidity you were getting hot and sweaty without getting tanned because the sun didn't seem too hot, it was a 3 showers a day type of place!! We saw most of the sights in in a couple of days, but as we also fly out of there, we saved a couple of things to share with holly who will be with us by then too. We went on the singapore flyer (London eye only bigger) visited Chinatown and little India, had a tour round the formula 1 track, seen the shopping streets and even went to the red light district. It was a good few days and will be nice to see the rest of it when we go back.
From there we flew too Kuala Lumpar in Malaysia, it was just as hot and humid there too. Kuala Lumpar is a crazy busy city that never seems to become any quieter, there's always cars and bikes everywhere. Again we saw all the sights in a few days: KL Tower, parliament buildings, Petronas Towers and some of the biggest shoppings malls ever, one even had a full on theme park inside. When in Kuala Lumpar, we bumped into a couple we had met in Cape Town three months earlier so hit the pubs with them a couple of nights.
The six of us decided we needed a beach, so we moved on too an island of the coast of Malaysia called Langkawi, after a couple of weeks of city life this was paradise! The hostel was great, the beach beautiful and the local hotel pool (which we crashed everyday) was fantastic. We went to the same restaurant every night and even knew the owner by his first name by the end of the week. The whole week we were there the weather was amazing and we met some cool and friendly people. By the time we left, there were 11 of us moving on together to our next destination, which was Krabbi in Thailand.
We have been here now for about 5 or 6 days, its hard to keep track but the change in culture is again quite big. This place has more of a tourist feel to it, more shops and places offering trips, it seems to get a bit repetitive as you'll walk down the road to the beach and the same people will stop you every day - offering to make and fit you with a suit or something else you'll never need - but its a good experience. The nightlife is something else, we've been going down one strip which is lined on both sides with 10 - 15 bars, they all offer the same things, cheap beer, free pool and for lack of a better word - prostitutes. The women run out and pull you in , its like any 18 - 30's holiday resort in europe but instead of offereing you free drinks these bars offer sex, needless to say we've been there every night since we got here!! It is a really friendly environment and a really good laugh, plus its always nice having the women on your arm and them coming up to talk to us to boost the ego. Ok, enough about the nightlife, lets just say its class and leave it at that.
Its getting on here and i'm hungry so i'll just write about today and then i'm off, today we went too the Phi Phi islands off the coast of Thailand, we spent the day shooting across the ocean on a speed boat, stopping at various places, we went snorkling, which was quality, swam in a 20m deep lagoon and visited Maya Bay, which is where they filmed 'the Beach' and that was beautiful. We had dinner on Phi Phi Don and then a visit too Monkey Bay and Viking Cave before more snorkling and the ride back to Krabbi, it was a cracking day and the weather was great which always helps, some of the beaches were just so amazing and the water was crystal clear blue, lush.
Right, being told its time to eat so better go, we will probably be moving on tomorrow to Phuket so look forward to hearing about that and stay safe, good night."
