Wow!! Where do i begin... such an amazing colourful country with so much happening... constant noise (mainly car horns, the roads are absolute carnage!) but it all adds to the experience, guess it wouldnt be what it is without it.
Our flight was delayed 9 hours- boo!! but at least i had enough time to buy my camera (and a wicked buy its been) hopefully i can upload my pictures so you can see a few. There was a smog covering Delhi so we couldnt land... and when we finally arrived we could see just how bad it gets! The place is just crazy and we had the only crazy taxi driver to boot (everyone else in the group got there quckly with no problems) yet our driver, who proceeded to talk to me through the mirror (basically not watching where he was going) got us lost... quite a few times he was far more interested in selling us his cousins hotel!! Think they have a clever knack not to run over the hundreds of people, dogs, cows that stepped out, quite freely, in front of us.
We've met our group, they're all ok... only oneother English girl and the rest from all over... mum laughs that shes the oldest, but as you can imagine, probably acts the youngest- ha!!
Keels you be surprised to learn that shes actually quite aware of everything around her, but you definately have to here. Actually today shes been the first to go down with 'Delhi belly' although i think we'll be close to follow!!
Food here is amazing, you can taste every spice (not that i know what they are, but its good!!) you do tend to get carried away. So cheap aswell. Tell dad we'll try to get him spices, see if he's up to the mark!!! sure me & mum won't mind sampling!!
Our guide is cool and if Rhys was here, he'd be wanting to cuddle him!! On that note you've all been talked about loads and I brought pictures to show the Indians but so far they've not gone beyond the group!!
We've done so much in such little time, our itinery has been packed and actually wouldn't want it any other way. I thought i was cheating a little bit and not 'proper' travelling but its the best way to see everything.
We've done our 20 hour sleeper train, which wasnt half as bad as it sounds. Mum didn't get much sleep, but with stinky in hand, i was cool ;-)
We arrived in Jaisalmer yesterday and went on the camel safari, I was racing 'Rocket' the camel, who didn't live up to his name!! Really funny tho... my riding lessons have come in handy!! Last night we watched Indian dancers, dancing beneath the stars, traditional chants being played... absolutely beautiful. The night before we watched some young children do the same thing, they were so passionate and sounded fantastic... hopefully you'll see the pics. Me and mum had a cry!!!
Went into the city centre today and brought some gorgeous silver and a lovely pashmina... we had a local tour guide for this and he has a wicked sense of humor- lots of laughing. He's also shown us some beautiful resaurants with amazing views!!
Weather has been quite cold!! Im even wearing my gloves! Thurmals have come in Handy, especially last night when we were camping. All the accomodation has been fantastic, big rooms, very comfy big beds and clean... staff very friendly.
We're off to Jodpur tomorrow, an early start of 5.15, we're still getting used to the time change. So gonna sign off now. (we'd over slept on the first morning, can you believe it! yep sure you can, start as you mean to go on... everyone was waiting for us!!!
Speak soon, lots of lovexx
