So much had happened in the past few days i have decided to break it up into two blogs. I'll start where i left; at the Thomas' house. We had a brilliant time at down with the Thomas family and they had endless ideas of what to do each day, a few of the activities included; surfing, visiting a waterfall, off road driving, bbq's, tractor lessons, and many maor i cant remember. Only had one slightly worrying experience when the cars Ben and i were driving nearly colided on the way back from dinner. I was following him (both in 4x4s) and a Kangaroo pranced acroos the road in front of Ben so he braked hard and i had to quickly do the same. I slammed on the brakes and the imaginary clutch (it was an automatic) and we screeched to halt just before the front end of the car was rearranged. A bit scary but a good story for the website! Our time at Ranch Tomas eventualy came to an end so after a great Easter Egg hunt (i lost...badly) we set of in our Toyota Carolla towards the Snowy Mountains and Canberra. We had a senic drive throught the mountains, which are pretty tame in Scottish standards, but the nice drive got us into Canberra a bit later than expected. It didnt matter in the end though as we found a very pleasant little Motel which was close byto a tasty Chinese takeaway. A good combination. Early the next morning we got our flight from Canberra (all three of us decided it wasnt a brilliant city) up to Brisbane, as from there we had a connecting flight to the small airport of Gladstone. We were going up there because Mum, a very clever and generous woman, had booked us into Herron Island! One of the most unspoilt Coral Cay Islands on the Barrier Reef. Yes!
