Hey everybody... our trip is scarily near its conclusion and we realised that travelling is the best thing in the world. having q career is all about preparing for the next journey. The amount of people we have met who seem to be travelling for an indefinate amount of time is crazy. One kiwi been travelling in europe for 2 years and still no ticket home.
Anyway more about us. Cant remember where i left off and cant be bothered to check... basically were in nice after doing a speedy tour of italy. Started off in Venice a truly beautiful city...every corner you turned the beauty of the place takes your breath away. spent a lot of time avoiding the tourists and pigeons both for which i have developed a hatred (i insist i am not a tourist but a traveller)... we took a "bus" aka boat along the canals and even has a quick visit to the lido. we stayed at an awesome campsite full of english speakers and a pool etc. oh...italy is VERY expensive; especially the beer so weve been sticking the wallet friendly although purhaps not so head friendly wine.
Next stop... day trip to verona. Setting for Romeo and Juliette, and beautiful roman town. went to the tackiest tourist trap i had every seen (purhaps apart from the shops of lourdes) it was juliettes house. although julliette didnt exist they managed to find a quaint courtyard with a balcony which would do the job for attracting tourist to this town, placed a statue in the courtyard of juliette along with the myth that if you place your hand on her bare right breast you would get a "new love". Needless to say her right breast had a brighter more polished look than the rest of the statue.
Next florence. arrived that same day at a really nice campsite full of aussies and kiwis and french girls. both nights we spent there the drinking went on well after security had sent us on our way to the park in the small hours. Second night we were more resourceful and carried back a 5 litre bottle of red from the coop...
Florence, a beautiful city, great architecture, nice shops, lots of goldsmiths. spent the whole day sweating in the italian heat in town seeing as ,uch as we could. cant think what else happened that day...
Next day, yesterday, was a mad day. in the afternoon we headed to Pisa to see the engineering error which happened over 800 years ago, without which tourists would not come to this place. It really does lean a considerable amount, and really does defy the laws of physics. we really did expect it to fall at any moment.
Anyway we concluded the italian experience with a night train to nice. Arrived shattered and some of us a bit moody. went to beach and slept in avo.
well be home on the evening of the 4th so keep the 5th open for a big gathering and a catch up.
Love to all.
See u very soon
