Hey, Phil here (finally get to write one)....
Having left Rome last Friday, we stopped off for one night in Pisa. Here we stayed in a nice big room with our own outdoor kitchen so we took the opportunity to cook for ourselves for the first time on our trip, which was a nice change from many of the extortionate restaurants we've forked out at whilst in Italy. We also indulged in a few cans of San Miguel (50 cents each!) and after a quick visit to the tower we were on our way again....
We left Pisa early on Saturday morning bound for Cinque Terra, a protcted Italian National Park with 5 bays separated by scenic cliffside walks or short train rides. The place is as beautiful as it sounds and is without doubt the most beautiful place we have visited so far this trip, if not ever. It is difficult to walk for more than a minute without wanting to take a photograph, the place is incredibly picturesque. Stunning scenery, crystal clear water and bright blue skies.... A real treat!
Our accomodation here is also spot on, air conditioned, conveniently located and ensuite. We will be sorry to leave here on Tuesday, but from here we are moving onto Nice, which, with it's sandy beaches and more sunshine, isn't the worst possible substitute! We are going on a boat trip tomorrow for our last day here, which should be fun, even though we have been warned about the rough seas out here! Sorry to be rubbing it in regarding how good it is here, what with the damp squib of a 'summer' back home, but it really is a special place....
Ciao for now (as they say in Llandow)
