I am proud to report that we finally made it to Beijing after a billion hours of travel. At the PDX airport, I was approached by my friend Mario to buy a neck pillow. They had an awesome two for twenty deal going on that was only valid if you bought two pillows. It sounded like a great idea at the time, but I soon realized that the cheap neck pillow was cheap for a reason. It provided horrible ergonomics and was barely usable on the plane. At the Seattle airport, Khalid was somehow able to convince one of the taxi drivers to take us around the airport for lunch. It was one of the funnest joy rides I've been one and the restaurant the driver recommended was delicious. I would definitely recommend this experience to anybody who happens to visit the Seattle airport. The plane ride to Beijing was mainly uneventful. We were fed often and well and the ride was pretty smooth. I was able to watch three movies, 22 Jump Street, Oceans 11 and Planet of the Apes. I was able to get a head start on my reading assignment due at the end of the week. Once we arrived in Beijing, we were greeted by a pair of friendly Chinese students. To my surprise, they spoke English really well and made us feel welcomed. They gave us an overview of what our itinerary was like and gave us some Snickers as well :) I am excited for what the rest of the trip has in store for us.
