Pedro's Mission
Guten Tag
I got to my hostel about 6 on Monday after navigating my way around Berlins S and u Bahns. The hostel is clean and is within walking distance to all the major tourist attractions, Check Point Charlie being the closest. It has been really hot and humid the whole time (between 30 and 35 degrees).
I have seen pretty much all the major tourist attractions that Berlin has to offer. Tuesday I went to see the Bundestag (use to be called the Reichstag) and the Brandenburg Gate and the Jewish Memorial which is 2700 huge concrete blocks that you can walk through. There is also a museum underground that explains how the Jews have suffered through the years.
Wednesday I went to the Topography of Terror. This was an open air museum that occupies the former site of Gestapo and SS headquarters and documents their history. Here I also saw the remains of the Berlin wall. After I walked down the road to see Check point Charlie and had a wonder around the museum which tells the history of the wall and the desperate stories of those who tried to cross it.
After my very educational day on Wednesday I decided to go to Berlin Zoo on Thursday on the west side of the city and Friday and Saturday I didn't do very much as i wasn't feeling to chipper. Before I leave Berlin for Krakow on Monday I plan to walk to the top of the dome on the Bundestag (designed my Norman Forster and yes it does wobble) and have a wonder around the Teir Garden.
I will upload some photos as soon as i get a chance, maybe in Krakow.
