Bangkok is crazy! At the airport I got chatting to a couple of Irish guys (both of whom had never left Ireland before!) who stayed at the same hotel as me for the first night.

We got in a tuk-tuk, which was driven by a crazy Thai guy from Chiang Mai, who proceeded to drive off doing a full 45 degree wheelie and laughing hysterically at our reation! He took us to some "bars" which didn't exactly match our request for a decent place to drink. He said Khao San Road (backpacking area) was closed - something to do with the army?! Quite an interesting night was had by all...

Last night I met up with the Irish guys again, met a couple of looney-bins, met some more Irish guys, saw a fight in the street (hangbags at dawn) and drank with the lads for the rest of the night and had a great laugh!

Those guys are heading south to the islands today so we've parted company. Checked out travel details for my journey north to Chiang Mai, looks like I've got a nice 12 hour night-time bus journey ahead of me tomorrow!

The food and clothes here are ridiculously cheap, so think I might indulge. I've not taken any photos yet but will take plenty tomorrow.
