Another day in the relaxed and picturesque Udaipur. I awoke early and spent a good hour watching the sun burn through the hazy mists across the mountains. After saying my goodbyes to the guys as they left for Jaisalmer I indulged in a Nutella pancake which got the day off to a right winner.
Overall I haven't really done much today so I will keep this short and sweet. I'm sure I will have many more stories when I attempt more train journeys.
I did a little bit of shopping, and bought a bag full of stationary for the kids I speak to everyday on the rooftops. "1 pen please mr" they ask. I managed to find a small stationary shop, not quite Staples but they had a few bits. Notebooks, pens, crayons, stickers, paints and brushes. All ready to surprise them tomorrow. All for the princely sum of £1.50. I think I will give some to the little girl who lives at this hotel, she's incredibly sweet and often brings the menu over and clears drinks away. She must be no older than 4.
This evening I went for dinner with the two American girls from the hotel. We ate at the popular Millets of Meywer. A great traveller hangout with great views across the Pichola Lake. We watched in awe as the sun dropped behind the Aravalli Hills, a crescendo of fruit bats with wing spans of over 3 feet appear, thousands fly overhead. I caught the end of the spectacle last night but tonight iwas far more theatrical and impressive!
I ordered two appetisers - Cheese and tomato Bruschetta and a vegetable wrap both swilled down with a beer! Yes that's right, I found out they unofficially serve alcohol! Result.
We talked briefly of home and what the girls had missed. Being typically American of course it was beefburgers! I feel their pain, I miss meat. I'm looking forward to heading north to West Bengal where people are not so strictly vegan!
On another note I should probably mention the grim reality of India...well let's just say I don't have full control of my bowels. Not quite Delhi belly but I wouldn't like to be washing my smalls tomorrow! On that note... "Namastē"
