Friday 8th February - another great drive through the winding Ruta 9; there is a more direct Ruta 9 but we enjoyed the views of the narrow route. Ruta 9 passed through dense sub-tropical jungle and had some stunning views. We arrived in the early afternoon at another great hotel La Comarca in the village of Purmamarca. Wednesday 6th February - arrived late at our smart Hotel Papyrus which overlooks the city of Salta. Wednesday 6th February; Drove through part of Valles Calchaquies up a high pass to town of Cachi, this was a diversion on our way to Salta. Cachi is a traditional twon with cobbled streets adobe houses and spectacular view to the Cerro Cachi [mountain]. There are lots of artesan shops; Willis had a field day! Saturday 2nd February; early flight to Tucaman in the North West of Argentina. Tucaman is the city where independance from the Spanish was announced on July 9th 1816. In the heat of the day we drove up into the mountains from our excellent B & B Posada Arcadia.
