Back to Amsterdam and the Pulitzer Hotel. After a quick bag drop in the room, we head to the Bloemenmarket for Dutch Pancakes and Souvenirs of Amsterdam. After picking up the obligatory bulbs and gouda cheese, we head toward the Leidseplein neighborhood to pick up a canal bike or paddle boat. After nearly sinking in a couple, we find one that isn't taking on too much water and head off. Too bad there are only two paddles so I have to ride in the back and relax. I feel like cleopatra being driven down the nile. The view really is different from on the canal as opposed to walking along it. It wasn't too expensive and we were able to take it all the way to our hotel to drop off the bags of stuff.
From here we walk north, along the canal past Anne Franks' house again. There is still a long line so I guess we will just have to see it next time we visit. We keep walking and stop at a small cafe for a quick bite before continuing our stroll through Jordaan. After a short rest on the courtyard of our hotel, which we can finnally use because it isn't rainng, ryan and I head out for one last walk through Dam Square. We decide to make a last try to see the old church.
Every time we have tried to see it it has been closed. Now it is open! But the jerk at the front wants to go home and won't let us in even though it is 4:45pm and it doesn't close until 5pm. After lots of begging he lets us stivk our heads in the door and skowls at us. (This guy really needed to visit his neighbors- check a map) At least we got a brief look at what we can see next visit. We head back and try to find a resturant that on of the waitresses at the bar recommended but decide we just want to relax at the hotel and eat here.
