After we bid goodbye to Ahmed and Abdul, we head for an early morning ferry ride and we are across the Straits and in Spain. We met the driver from the hotel right outside the customs door and off we go to Gibraltar. Ah, not so fast. Well, the trip over to the border is fast but not the crossing. Because of “political issues”, cars entering or exiting Gibraltar have to wait in an ungodly long line. How long could it be, you ask? 2 hours to go a quarter mile. Even Chris walks faster than that. Now we find out the way to do it is to take a cab to the border, walk across then grab a cab on the other side. This will be important info later because the driver we had lined up to take us to the car rental place in Algeciras port bailed on us.. Anyhoo, two hours of waiting in line later we cross the runway at Gibraltar Airport and head to the hotel. First thing I notice is the presence of dogs again. I was really missing them. After a quick unpack, we head out to go to the Gibraltar Museum. It’s a tiny place but really informative. Originally built over 14th century Moorish Bathes, this museum is a little gem. We decide to the town square for some fish n chips. Not bad and plenty of vinegar! Next stop, the apothecary because there is no way I’m climbing The Rock with my ankle unprotected. The store we stop in has a really nice lady who actually let me try them on so I could get the right size wrap. Can’t do that at CVS. And she loaded me up with 800mg Ibuprofen so I could get some relief afterward.

Adrian How did you come by your tour guides Abdul and Ahmed, sounds like it might have been a bit pricey for the amount of time they spent with you
Adrian Ahh, good old Gib, spent many days on multiple trips here refueling to and from the far east. did you go up the rock and feed the Apes?
pegannon Our travel agent arranged them and that portion of the trip was actually less expensive than the Spanish part because of the exchange rates. They were wonderful and worth every penny because they were able to take the headache out of all the decisions. All we did was point them toward what we liked and they came up with the details.
