We arrived in Dublin last night and had some difficulties with our hostel. We had a confirmation number but for some reason they didn't have us booked. We were supposed to be staying in an apartment in Dublin, but due to the mix up we we ended up staying in a 6 person girls dorm. Once we had a room ( although not what we had expected) we headed to get foo as we had not eaten all day.
Since we are trying to do our trip on a low budget we have become very cheap with food, especially because London and Dublin are expensive towns. Our hostels have included breakfast each day (cereal and toast, nothing special) so we have been sneaking out jam or cheese toast for lunch every day in our ziplock bags to save money. However this leads to all our moods being touch and go around 6 or so when we are just so hungry.
Last night we were lucky enough to find a place that was within our price limit and even had live music! It was so cool to be able to just sit and enjoy my fish and chips ( a typical Irish meal) while enjoying authentic Irish music. We ate in he temple bar area, which is pretty much where there is always a party in Dublin. After eating we went home and had a few drinks and then headed back to temple bar ( the actual bar) Irish style. Here is where the story gets interesting.
While we were there we met a group of guys from Scotland who were in Dublin for a stag party. We had a great time chatting with them so when the pub closed ( at 1) we headed to a club. Apparently when Scottish men dance they feel he need to lift and carry people around. As we were leaving the bar 2 things were made clear to us
1) Scottish men truly don't wear anything under their kilts
2) the cobble stone road on temple bar can be dangerous
We were dancing in the street when a man named Paul, who we had met that night, had felt the need to lift me up and fireman carry me. However the combination of the cobble stone road, Pauls short stature, and the amount that he had drank that night he face planted on to the ground, taking me with him. When we stood stood up we realized that poor Paul had hit is face on the cobble stone and cut his eyebrow in 2 places. The paramedic who was on the scene ( dealing with something completely unrelated) Informed Paul that he would be in newsboy a stitch or 2 to fix his eyebrow.. Boy did I feel badly! It was only his morning however that I realized that while Paul needed stitches I have a broken toe that I will have to deal with for he next few weeks! Moral of the story is we did Dublin in true Irish form last night!

emmilla doherty Sounds like you are having a great time. I should have given you all my relatives numbers. How long are you staying in Dublin?
