Bula from Fiji.
We're so happy we brought our flights forward. This enabled us to spend an extra few nights on the Yasawa Islands. We booked in on the 'Tropical Awegasm' package with Awesome Adventures. This included 11 nights, 12 days on 5 different islands and a 2 night cruise!
The first night we arrived we stayed in Nadi and were up early the following morning for our boat over to our first stop Bounty Island. Upon arriving we were greeted by a group singing a welcome song. Bounty Island was beautiful and this was the location of the 1st Celebrity Love Island series. We lounged round the pool, went snorkelling, took out a catamaran and even went fishing in our 2 nights here. Upon arriving we were shcked to see one of our friends Claire who we last saw in the early parts of Australia. Carly was so pleased and they had a good gossip. Our first night one of the Fijians invited us to join him and a group to drink some Cava. It's a traditional Fijian drink. It's like mud water but the experience was worth it.
Next island was Waya Lai Lai, this was alot more basic than Bounty, it's a mountanious island and we climbed to the top here. Carly also experienced a Fijian massage while here but stunk of chicken fat for a few days afterwards.
Next stop was Sanawai, this was a really small resort with only 9 guests on our first night and only 5 the second. There was no electricity so in the evening we had to walk around carrying a lantern. There wasn't anything to do here at all so we just layed on the beach for 2 days topping up our tans. Although we did take a rest when the chef showed us how to crack a coconut with his bare hands. Judo Chop! The food was excellent and we even had lobster one night. A real treat!
Our 4th island was Nannya Lai Lai. The host was 'Queen' a gay Fijian who really lived up to his name and was great entertainment. A 20 minute walk over to the other side of the island was a lovely beach called the Blue Lagoon. This is where the film 'Blue Lagoon' was made funnily enough! This was definately the best beach we experienced in Fiji.
We spent 2 nights on a criuse boat. This turned out to be a bit of a booze cruise everyone was up for a laugh and getting drunk. We played some silly drinking games. Made some great friends. The crew were really cool aswell. They look us out on a smaller boat to different beaches and on snorkelling trips. The best part was getting to see the giant Mantarays. We have put on so much weight as there was so much food as it was always a buffet (got to get your moneys worth).
Last stop for 1 night was Mantaray Island. They definately saved the best till last. This was a new Eco friendly resort. It was amazing. Meal times were overwellming as there was so much choice. Shame our time here was short but Carly spent most of it sunning herself while Paul was snorkelling. Whilst in the water he saw a 3ft shark. It was the best snorkelling he's done.
Really looking forward to Hawaii. Not long & were be home. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Love to all
Carly & Paul
