After dinner, we ventured over to the other side of the river. It was much more lively, loud music, dance floors and cheap drinks. We went to the backpackers bar and tried the local spirits, they blew our head off!!
The next morning, we walked to the western union, but it was closed because it was a Sunday. We had seen on line that the ones in Da Nang were open, so we had breakfast, and then hired a scooter so that we could go to Da Nang.
It was 30km to Da Nang and the sky was looking a little dubious, so Paul put his foot down! We flew there in about 20 mins. Luckily, we found a western union pretty quickly and finally had some money again!!!
We jumped straight back on the bike as we didn't fancy risking the rain in our shorts and t shirts on a bike! All along the coast between Da Nang and Hoi An were fancy 5 star resorts! They seemed a little out of place, but looked very luxurious!
The weather seemed to be holding, so we stopped off to see a pagoda that was jutting out the top of a hill. There was the choice of steps or a lift, we stupidly opted for the steps! They were very steep, but it wasn't too hot, so wasn't too bad!
When we got back down, Paul bought a pestle and mortar, hand carved from marble from the mountain.
We hopped back on the bike and headed back towards Hoi An. We stopped at the local beach to see what it was like and we found a little piece of paradise! There was a little shack with seats on the beach, and not a person in sight! It was bliss! We had a drink and decided to stay for lunch! Even the sun came out to make things even better!!
We stayed for a couple of hours and didn't really want to leave, but we felt we should carry on with the day!
We went in search of a Christmas fayre on the outskirts of Hoi An and came across a lovely little sweet river bar. It was on stilts over the river and was a perfect setting.
We carried on, but couldn't find the fayre, so went back into Hoi An to drop off the bike and get ready for dinner.
We had a quiet night as we were both feeling sleepy.
