Pauline's Travels
A day looking around Dunedin. It was another cold and wet day. I spent time at the Otago and the Settlers museum as well as the art galley.
Dunedin is known as the Edinburgh of the south and for it's university students. It's immensely proud of it's Scottish heritage. Dunedin is derived from the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh: Dun Eldeann.
The first permanent European settlers, Scots, arrived in Port Chalmers in 1848, and included the nephew of Robbie Burns. Who has a statue in the Octagon in the centre of town.
Speight's having been brewing beer here since the late 1800's and Cadbury's also have a factory here.
