Ushuaia
OH MY GOD my whole bottom lip is COVERED with cold sores! About 10 of them. Ouch!! I went straight to a pharmacy, made a sad face and pointed to my lip. The 2 women grimaced simultaneously before giving me cream and pills. The rest of the day I was in pain, and miserable.
Ushuaia is a big town. The weather is weird. Despite it being the most Southern big town, in the sun and with no wind it's actually quite warm. So the jacket comes off. Then the wind blows. Suddenly and with no warning. Then it's ffffreeezzzing! Someone at the hostel told me about a half day tour seeing penguins and showed me pics. SO cute! So off I went to book the same tour. It's full today so I booked in for tomorrow. Then off I went to see about getting to this national park on an island further south. It's actually Cape Horn in English. People have raced round Cape Horn in yachts haven't they? And isn't there a film of the same name? Anyway it's in Chile! Argentina and Chile don't like each other much I'm told so they don't make things, like I want to do, very easy! The next place I go into says yes they do go to Cape Horn but it's 4 day 3 night cruise which ends in Punto Arenas further North. It's all inclusive, private sea view room and way too expensive but I book it. I will not eat for the next 2 months. Maybe I WILL come back skinny after all!
Penguins are also promised on this luxury trip so I go back to the 1st place and plead with them to give me my money back. Which thankfully they did. Now I wait til tomorrow afternoon to finally get to the REAL end of the world. If Andy was with me, we'd swim in the Antarctic Ocean but perhaps paddling in it will suffice.
