Getting to Puerto Iguazu
I watched 4 films and inbetween times slept not bad (would have been loads better had I managed to wash the day's sweat off me before boarding the bus). We were given a yummy hot meal, then a wee biscuit thing and CHAMPAGNE! Well obviously not Champagne but fizzy and posh! Then we all settled down to our (different - cos we had personal screens don't you know) films etc. 5 mins after being offered champagne the bus broke down and we waited for half an hour (what's half an hour more on a 19 hour bus journey?) before all being transferred onto another, just as luxurious bus.
After being woken at 730 for chocolate and cake for breakfast, I looked outside and it was bucketing down again!!! Glad I was all tucked up! At 2pm we arrived and I stepped from a cool air conditioned bus which forced me to wear my jacket for the 1st time since heading North, to an oven! I'm serious. I don't remember experiencing any weather so hot! Obviously off came the jacket, and off came the jumper! I took an hour to find the hostel and I took a pic of how soaking wet with sweat I was when I got here. Nice!
I spoke to the hostel owner about the best way to see the falls tomorrow and instead of a tour I'm just going to go and wander around myself. So that sorted, I wandered around and found myself at 3 borders! Where the Parana River meets the Iguazu River and divides Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil! So I stood in all 3 countries at once. How cool is that? I'd hoped there was a line of some sort separating them all and I was going to lie down on all 3, but being rivers I guess that's not possible!
So came back, ate, showered then bed!
Oh yeah, I had a THIRD lucky escape with another storm. Half an hour after I arrived at the hostel the heavens opened! For about an hour! Thunder and lightning - electricity off, the works!! Sub tropical weather I'm told. When I went out after, there was quite a lot of damage - a tree had broken off and fallen into a shop window for one!
