Been a busy few weeks so haven't had much of a chance to blog. Today is my last day with the Mirror Foundation volunteering. Spent my second week here staying in one of the local villages building the water system. Was good to be out there but the work was hard. Turned out we were carrying sand, rocks and some concrete cylinders to be made into a water tank up a pretty big hill. Spent my birthday digging a trench back down the hill to lay the pipe in!
Birthday was good but different, I took some cakes to share with the people and some of the other guys bought me a cake. On asking my hosts for a knife they presented me with a machete to cut my cake with! Seemed a little excessive but did the job!
Spent the weekend in Chiang Mai. Didn't do much of the temple looking but have that booked next week. Had a big walk around the city and found the hotel I had stayed in when we went ther 15 years ago!
Quite strange this week with new volunteers arriving and beingone of the people who is meant to know how to do things and how things work, has been good to see for myself how much I know understand about this place! So now have 3 nights in Chiang Rai and then head back down to Bangkok. 5 days in Bangkok and after that don't have more than 2 nights in any one place for another 2 months!
