The long train to bucharest
We woke up at 7.30 to get the train to bucharest. The dutch guy ordered us a taxi to the train station as he said if we pulled one off the street they will rip you off. The taxi came and it was an extended clio, yes a clio with a boot? It was only £2 to the train station, thank god as it was a long journey there and we couldnt be bothered walking there.
We boarded the train and when the ticket inspectors got on they made us move, turns out the front part of the train gets left halfway there, thank god we moved. It was a long journey, i entertained my self with music and the hardy boys book copey had exchanged in zagreb, id made him carry it around until i was ready to read it. The train was roasting hot, none of the windows seemed to open, copey managed one but it was not a pleasent temperature. We crossed the danube it was massive, we couldnt believe how big it was, there must off been some rain too as it was flooding over the banks, the trees nearby where submerged.
We arrived in bucharest at 7pm, the directions to the happy hostel were a joke so we asked the tourist board for a map and she circled on the map where we needed to be and gave us the metro map. Great a metro and this place had english writting too instead of that accrylic rubbish. We got the tram and walked through what looked like beiruit, it was very run down and we werent expecting much from our hostel as it was £8 a night. We got there and it was brilliant, a massive room with 2 bunk beds in and a en suite with the best shower going, it had everysort of attachment you would need!
We headed out to the old town, the brazil game was on and the place was heaving, we managed to find a seat near a tv and we had steak for tea, on the steak there was garlic butter, it was still frozen, the steak was mildly warm but tasted good. We went to a bar further down the main bar street. It had a open front and the beers where about £1.40 they did cocktails for £3 too. We drank till two then walked back, it was a 30 minute walk back.
