Korcula is one of the most relaxed places we've visited during the day, and thanks to the hostel one of the funnest places at night. It's another of the Islands off Croatia's Dalmatian coast, two islands South from Hvar. The old town of Korcula has a wall around it, and pretty well organised series of narrow streets with heaps of nice restaraunts on the main drag. Outside the old town the coastline is pretty rocky, but there are a few pebbly beaches. All the rock beaches were packed with sea urchins, which we saw an old local guy diving for, cracking open, and eating out of the shell! As tasty as they may be, they made swimming a little tricky but we managed to find a rocky area with only a couple of them near the shore so we got to enjoy swimming in the crystal clear water.
Other than swimming and chilling out in the sun we didn't do a heap on Korcula. There aren't many sights to see, so there was no pressure to do stuff. This was handy since the hostel we stayed at was great for a few drinks so we didn't see much of the mornings. It was called the One Love Hostel and featured a bar in the common room and a movie every night, followed by beers and cocktails in buckets.
Probably the best part of Korcula was that there didn't seem to be many other tourists around - not a tour group in sight!! I think that helped to make the place so relaxing.
Later, Paul.
