Hey again,

So, here's how our first couple of days in Hanoi went...

Arriving in Hanoi after a monster train journey everyone was definitely ready for a large breakfast. Luckily our hotel for that night had the most amazing buffet breakfast and we definitely got our money's worth! After weeks of nothing but airy white baguettes it's amazing how good toast tastes!!! Must admit we're still leaving out the noodles for breakfast. Not quite feeling local enought for that yet!

After breakfast we took a trip to the lake, seeing a church and a couple of well-hidden pagodas on our travels but quickly heading back to the hotel for a shower once our rooms were ready! 16 hours on a train definitely builds up some dirt! The afternoon was spent at a local theatre watching a water-puppet show. We had been told that this was THE highlight of Hanoi so couldn't miss it and it really was a great experience. Although we didn't understand any of what they were saying it was amazing how they could move the puppets without even watching what they were doing. Definitely worth going if you ever get the chance. The evening was spent at a great local restaurant but opted for an early night after a not-so-comfortable sleep on the train the previous night.
