On Monday we flew to Melbourne for 2 days. Once we arrived we checked in to the nicest hotel we have stayed at so far - the Radisson at Flagstaff Gardens, then jumped on the free circle line tram. This is a great tram as it is free and goes around the city in a circle. You just jump on and off as you wish. We went down to the riverside and had some lunch which was lovely to sit out and enjoy the sights and sunshine.
We then went to the Aquarium which was good and we seen some amazing sharks! The penguins were also fantastic and I got some good pictures of them. Amazing to think that penguins live off the coast of southern Australia!
We then done a spot of retail therapy and I had a lot of fun in Target! I love this store and used to shop there all the time when I lived in the states so you can imagine my delight when we found one in Melbourne! As usual Paul went to Starbucks whilst I shopped!
Once I was all shopped out we jumped on the tram and went back to our hotel to get ready for dinner. After some yummy pizza and fizzy wine we went to the Crown Casino which is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere! I had great fun with a dollar and the Sex and the City slot machine!
The following day we went to St Kilda's beach. It is in this area that the Formula 1 race is held. It is also a lovely beach resort which nice beaches, cafes and a really old theme park called Luna Park. We had a lovely day at the beach which was very relaxing. Unfortunately we couldn't stay here forever so off we go back to the airport to fly back to Sydney.
I really liked Melbourne - much more than Sydney. It felt more cosmopolitan and I liked the fact that there were lots of free things for tourists to do. The riverside is really nice and at nightime the city looked lovely.
Back in Sydney we went to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner and drinks. Tomorrow we are flying to Airlie Beach for Christmas!
