We left Hue at 9am and arrived in Hoi An at 1:30pm on Tuesday. We had our very own boy band serenading us for a few hours of the journey so that was amusing! 3lovely lads from Oxford and their extended travelling family.
We arrived to fab weather which was very welcomed after our lovely cold (20 degrees is cold out here) and wet weather. We got to our hotel and then decided to go exploring so we rented bikes for $1. To say I was s***ting myself would be an understatement and the fact I can't remember the last time I was on a bike doesn't exactly make me believe in my ability not to get killed!! The story does end happily because I'm here to tell the tale ;)
Hoi An hasn't got a great deal to see in it but it like other parts of Vietnam is absolutely stunning and this city is probably one of our favourite because its got that extra laid back feel.
We cycled our little hearts away around the market and back streets while trying to not get knocked down and to bag a bargain or two! I'd say the locals absolutely detest Westerners on bikes and they do love their horn. I'm sure they have to run out of gas at some point... Possible opening for someone out there!!
We chilled in the evening and went for a few drinks because we didn't need to catch the bus until 6 the next evening.
Woke bright and early and went shopping. I finally found my first pair of happy pants.. I was being a little picky to say the least! (They are so comfortable!!)
Rented our little bikes again and went for a proper cycle out to the gorgeous beach. The way to see this place is definitely on a bike and its well worth the sore ass.
I'm now sitting on an over night bus from Hoi An to Nha Trang which hasn't went too badly except for the dodgy bus driver and his friends. We got on the bus and put all our bags under the bus and went on our way... The bus went to the outskirts of the city and stopped where all of our bags were taken from under the bus and put in the isles of the bus and blocked all entrances. Emer had the best view and thought that she might have been suffocated by an avalanche of rucksacks. We then saw them put 3motorbikes under the bus and at least 5 massive packages. (A little dodgy I think!)
Anyway that's enough from me. I'm going to try to get some sleep! That is if my dodgy road raged bus driver would lay off the horn!!!
