We were up early on Wednesday to be collected at 7am to start our trip to Koh Tao. We sat for ages and started to get a little worried that our bus hadn't arrived. We asked the boy behind the counter but of course it'd be typical that he had little to no English and kept say yes, ok!
At 8am the lady that speaks English arrived and informed us that the bus left at 6am so we'd have to stay for another night because we weren't up in time. This was after them telling us to be there at 7am and when the bus arrived why didn't they come and knock on our doors. To say Emer and I nearly hit the roof would be an understatement because we'd paid for the bus and ferry transfer and had two nights accommodation paid for in Koh Tao.
The boss man then arrived and there was a good bit of giving out and shouting in Thai between him, the lady and the gobs***e that was on the nights. When giving out to someone who speaks English but doesn't understand a lot of words, its very hard to get your point across. After a lot of phone calls we were then being told by the boss man that the bus actually hadn't turned up which we all think is a complete lie.
We explained as best we could that it wasn't our fault that we had missed the bus and we wouldn't be paying for another bus transfer. They weren't long understanding us when it came down to the fact that it would be coming out of their pocket. Due to all the messing around we'd also missed our ferry because we'd never make it on time so we'd also need to get more tickets for that.
After being delayed by two hours the boss man finally gave in and ordered a taxi to being us the one of the piers which was three hours away. He then tried to pull a fast one saying that he didn't know how much the boat tickets were so we could ring him with the amount after and he'd organise the money to get to us in Koh Tao. To say he got a gunk when he was informed that we wanted to cash before leaving left him somewhat like a bull.
After a long morning we finally got into our car taxi (tight squeeze) and made our way with our 1600 THB for the tickets towards the pier. We arrived there about 12 ish and the next boat didn't go until three and our tickets were 600 each because they didn't know if they were even going to fit us on.
We were roughly 4 1/2 hours on the ferry and I've never seen Claire the shade of white and green that she was for the whole journey. She managed not to get sick even though there were loads of people around us who were sea sick and some even puking into plastic bags. Even my stomach was finding it hard to hold up.
We stopped at Samui, Phangan and the last destination was Koh Tao... Oh boy were we glad to see it.!
