Day 3
After a fairly early rise, we realized that the weather had become wet, overcast and windy! We had breakfast and a quick look at the map given to us as we wanted to go in search of wildflowers. Our destination, Mount Leseuer National Park, is one of the most diverse and rich flora areas in the world and within minutes we realized why. With more than 900 species it ranks as one of the most important reserves for flora conservation in Western Australia. In between fairly light showers I managed to get as many photos as I could of the various flowers. I could not believe the diversity of species within close proximity to each other. It was a feast for the eyes. Meandering around a loop road we took in the view when the weather permitted. Always on the look out for more flowers, birds and wildlife. We didn't see many birds at all and no wildlife at all. When we stopped at the look out the weather cleared and gave me enough time to take a few more photos.
When we left this beautiful spot we went in search of the wedge tailed eagle, which can apparently be spotted in this area. Unfortunately we didn't spot any. A great disappointment!
We set off for Green Head and viewed the bays and an island from a couple of different spots. Lovely picturesque bay, many ragged cliffs and beautiful turquoise coloured ocean. The beaches had a lot of seaweed which crunched underfoot.
After a full day exploring we decided to call it a day and headed for base camp! Chicken left over’s for dinner, tea for me a cold beer for Menno as we settled down for a relaxed evening in our caravan. Due to the wet blustery weather that came up just as we got back we realized that there would be no fishing on the jetty tonight. Another early evening for us!
