Aloha all :)
One of my dreams came true: I'm in Australia now for a couple of days and it's fantastic.
I started and will end up in Sydney but there will be some other places where I will go like:
Canberra and Brisbane.
My sleeping place is Greenarce, a small town with lots of Lebanon influence. So lots of shops, restaurants or other things are owned by them. It's about 1 hour from Sydney centre and it's easily going by train. It's not a Shinkasen (bullit train) like in Japan, but as I usually used when I went to work.
My flight from Jakarta to Sydney with Qantas was excellent. It was a midnight flight, but as far as I have experienced I didn't sleep and also the whole day when I spent in Sydney. Only the next day I slept almost 12 hours, cause I didn't sleep for a whole day.
So far what I have seen in Sydney is:
- Opera House
- Royal Botanic Garden
- Darling Harbour
- Chinatown
- The City
- Manly Beach
- Walking to North Head at Sydney National Park at Manly Beach
Sydney is for me a very nice place. I have seen a lot of city's like: New York, LA,
Honolulu, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Jakarta etc. Further it's not that chaotic like in NYC, but everything is easy going. A lot of mixed up culture and that makes the city dynamic.
Opera House / Royal Botanic Garden are based at Circular Quay. Always busy and crowded with tourist and business people. I was one day around 8:30 am and it was fantastic. Non people over there and I was just alone. I have made good pictures of the Opera House. Further the architecture of the Opera House is amazing. Definitely the spot how to recognize Sydney.
The Royal Botanic Garden is huge park / garden area with lots of tree and flowers. It has a very nice walking path and further spots are great. Especially now around this time (Spring Time) it's not to cold and not to hot to walk around. From Macqaurie side you can make a good shot of the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Darling Harbour is a very nice place to hang out. It has a lot of restaurants, bars and also the nightlife as well. Further it's nice to sit down and just enjoy the view. Further there is a Chinese Garden (Entrance you have to pay), Tumbalong Park, Exhibition they and are also re-building some new shops.
The City is where the shops are. George Street, Pitt Street etc. are the place where you can shop till you can drop. Of course there are also restaurants, bars and movie centers as well. Between Campbell Street and Liverpool Street you can Chinatown. I have seen a lot of Chinatown during my world trip and this is a good one with lots of shops and restaurants.
If you want to go to Manly Beach, you have to catch the ferry from Circular Quay. It's 30 min
to go there, but you can make lots of pictures from Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Further Manly Beach is very nice place to hang out. It has lots of shops and definitely you should try the fish & chips there.
Also at Manly Beach, you can find the Sydney National Park. It's very big area, but the area where I have been was North Head. It was almost 1.5h to get there and also 1.5h to get back. But the view and also the nature was amazing. So you if you like hiking, definitely to check this out. Of course there are some other spots, but not
enough time to check everything. Further you can rent a bike to cycle around the beach and the park as well.
This week I will go alone to Brisbane. I will check out Noosa, Sunshine Coast and of course Gold Coast. Further the weekend I will go to Canberra, the capitol to see the flower parade. Last week it was started till end of this weekend. So I just on time to check it out. That's the schedule for Australia so far.
Talk 2 u later and cya next time
