Hola chicos,
yes thats right, were learning spanish here in Bariloche. Sorry for the horrendous punctuation, cant work out this keyboard at all so no exclamation marks or apostrophes here.
Arrived over a week ago last Thursday and we re staying in a hostel called 1004 which is on the 10th floor of a huge builing near the square. The views of the lake and snow capped mountains are incredible but for some reason this computer wont let me upload any photos which is a real drag so i thought id write another entry instead. There are lots of images on google though if yóu fancy a peek.
We decided to learn spanish here cos its far more chilled out than Buenos Aires. The lessons are quite expensive but we´re in a really good school and do 4 hours every morning from 9 til 1pm. It was actually really hard in the first week cos unbeknown to us wed missed the beginning week so the first thing we had to do was stand up and introduce ourselves in Spanish, which is very difficult, and embarrasing, when you dont know any spanish at all. It did mean that for the whole of last week we hardly did anything but study, and also, to top it all off, we had an exam on the friday which was a bit ridiculous. We probably both worked harder than we did for our a=levels in the space of 4 days and poor Timmy actually failed it and had to resit it this morning at 8am. Haha, actually it was quite funny after hed got over the initial shame, oh the initial shame. But anyway, he passed with flying colours and were onto past tense this week so no time to take a breathe´. still cannot understand a word the locals say though, ah well.
Went on an amazing 30km cycle ride round the lakes and mountains yesterday, and weve done some cool walks too. There was also gaucho festival on Saturday where all the argentinian cowboys from around the surrounding country came to show off their horses, dancing and traditional costumes. The whole family can ride on one horse, sometimes with a tiny baby on the front, so sweet.
We also saw the most amazing local band last night called Acustica Maquina. They have a myspace page for anyone who wants to listen but seriously they are amazing live. Theyre a local band but theyre going on tour next week. we met them on the first night here and they invited us to their special private gig for all their family and friends, they even remembered our names last night which was super cool.
Anyway, thats enough for now, gotta get back and do some more studying. Hope youre all well, love to hear from you
lots of love
