Hi all,
No pictures for San Diego so have opted for the moose.
Well i'm not in San Diego having joined the Contiki tour. The contiki group is a hella of a lot different from good old Gap. There are nearly 40 people travelling which is different from just 6 and makes it much more impersonal. There are people from all over the place, a lot of Ozzies some of which have grouped together to form a loud group. So so far I'm preferring the South America group but it is only day 2 and i've got loads more people to talk to.
So let me get back to Tuesday... I said before I went to LA that if I was going to go to LA I had to see Brad Pitt. Well I have achieved that and oh my gawd he is so good looking the camera does not lie. I started queuing at about 7.30am for the hand and foot ceremony at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre. The queue surprisingly wasnt that long and I managed to get a spot bang in front of the ceremony sitting (in hindsight I wish I would have stood because I would have got closer but I'm thinking it's luck that I was there so I shouldnt be negative). They all came out for the ceremony at about 11.15am. Brad was wearing a nice beiche suit, sunglasses. He was very tall, he was just gorgeous. George was also there and he's just handsome and oozes cool and he is so nice. He looks good for 46. Matt was wearing a black suit and he was quite short to be honest I didnt pay much attention to Matt my eyes on Brad and George. So they had the hand and foot ceremony and then they came over to the crowds which is when I wished I had been a little closer but I saw Brad Pitt in real life in LA and saw a hand and foot ceremony at Graumans so that's Hollywood enough for me.
After the ceremony, I decided that I had got the picture I wanted so I headed to Anaheim. I got a train from Union Station to Anaheim. It was one of those double decker trains and it was so stupid because here was me with my massive suitcase and I wasnt allowed to sit with it downstairs because about 20 seats were meant to be reserved for disabled people which is fair enough but I wasnt even allowed to stand with my bag either. So they insisted I take it upstairs. Anyway, on both occassions up and down I had to play the damson in distress so someone would offer to help me which they did both times. Stupid trains.
In the evening, I had a meeting with the huge Contiki group and went out for dinner with a few people in the group which was nice.
Yesterday, we left Anaheim for San Diego. First stop was doing a (pointless) Harbour Cruise. I swear it was the most boring cruise I have ever been on, I know all about San Diego Harbours Maritime / Army history which to be honest I cant say I'm interested in. In the afternoon we went across the border to Tijuana (I think I've spelt that wrong but oh well. That was interesting. It was very touristy and i can't say I really liked it. In the evening, I had the option of going to a restaurant which specialises in giving you bad service and being rude to you or going to a nice restaurant with a few of the other people on the tour. So I opted for going to the nice restaurant and from what I've heard I made the right decision as the waitors in the other place which incidently is called 'd*** ' (speaks for itself) were incredibly rude. After the restaurant, we went for a few drinks in an Irish pub.
Today I went to San Diego zoo which is huge. There are so many animals. I was really pleased though to see Koala bears which were so cute and also the pandas. In the afternoon, we went to Mission Beach for a couple of hours. The weather by the way is on the up but from tomorrow it's going to get really hot as we are heading to the desert. Sun cream on the ready!
Just to keep up with tradition...food. I can't take this American diet. Everywhere I go (with Contiki at least) the choice is burgers, tacos or nachos. No pasta, pizza or just salad. And some fruit would be good. I'm heading to the supermarket now to get some healthy stuff. I am however loving the whole pancakes in the morning idea.
That's all for now,
Much love,
P.xxx.
