Early start with breakie at 8am which was really weird stuff like bread rolls with cheese and ham and then other continental stuff like cereal and croissants. Contiki was offering a bus trip in and then a free cruise today but since there was so much Jen and I wanted to see we decided to learn the underground tube system along with Jess and Lauren - two sisters from Australia. The underground was actually very easy and only 9Euro for unlimited travel on the trains and buses.
First stop - Eiffel Tower! Amazing. It's under construction though so it looked rather messy but was still beautiful to see. There is heaps of people trying to sell stuff here and lts of beggers but we just ignored them. Jen and I decided not to go up since we didn't have time to climb and it as expensive to go in the lift. We walked up the garden strip around it though
and got some great views and shots. From there we got on the tube and headed to the Arc De Triomphe which we saw briefly yesterday. This was nice to see up close and watch all the traffic try to work itself out. Nothing too special though. From there it was only the Museum of Rodin which is home to 'Thinker'. This was a beautiful museum and garden area. Lots of scultures and lovely plants and flowers but Jen and I really only recognised the Thinker piece. It was then onto Nepoleans Tomb which was massive!! Kind of creepy and very majestic for one person but again, nice to see.
Last stop before home was the Notre Dame Cathedral. It was so busy! There was a line to walk up it and a line to just walk in. We decided to just walk in and check it out. It is massive!! There is a few tombs in there and lots of memorials.
We then made the silly decicion of stopping in a couple of shops since I needed heels for the Moulin Rouge and also the Casino in Monaco. We had to try and figure out the metro and rush beck to the hotel then from that metro stop find the hotel itself!! We ended getting back at 5:10pm and were due to leave at 5:30pm and needed to be dressed up.
We managed it- just. The bus was loaded with everyone else ready to leave and only waiting on us!! Got to Moulin rouge and were seated almost immediately The tables were tired and heaps close together and the air conditioning vents blew up from the different levels at about hip height. I got seated on the end of the table right next to the air vent- sooo cold!!But luckily one of the Canadian girls, Alicia, lent me here shawl. So dinner came out first which was three courses and was pretty nice food except they don't cook their meat over here so the beef was rare.
Then- THE SHOW!! Incredible. Lots of colour and costumes and BOOBS! So many boobs- all the females were effectively naked but we were given a heads up on this from Lara the tou manager so it was ok. The entire show was in French but you got the jist it was about the country's history. Once that was done it was next door to the pub. This was great place with lots of energy for a Tuesday night.. Straight away we were all given a free shot of chocolate vodka. Then a whole lot of dancing! Sooo much dancing!!! Then another Contiki group showed up who were on their last night of tour so they were having a massive night. I made goo friends with one of the girls and had a great chat to here about her experiences on tour.
At about 3:30am there was only 10 or so of us left so we headed outside to arrange for taxis. Las time Lara was at this bar she left with a rd 'captains' hat I guess you would call it. Anyway, she brought it along to return to the pub but they didn't want it so it ended on my head. Once were outside (me in the captain hat) we noticed a massive ven which was blowing ir up. We all decided to stand on it and play Marylin Monroe. Then the police came and called me over to the car!!! I have never been soooo scared in my life!! He starting pointing at my hat and yelling and told me to hand it over so I gave it to him in absolute horror.. Then the b***** puts it on hi head and starts laughing!!! They were joking around! They gave the hat back and told us to have a good night but my gosh was I scared..
Home by 4am only to be up at 6am and on the bus by 7:45am.
