So, we made it safely to Beijing...
Day 1 & 2 meshed together thanks to a super long night phase flight that I thought I'd be 'going postal' 6 hours into our 13 hour flight. After weighing my options I got a grip~
OK- without getting into great detail right now I can say the government here has DEFINITELY got a hand in this...will elaborate later.
Have experienced thus far: Temple of Heaven, Ming Tombs, Great Wall, Summer Palace, Forbidden City, & Tian An Men Square. Everything SUPER interesting.
We flew to Shanghai today and are currently in Suzhou. We visited Tiger Hill this afternoon which originally was a tomb then became a Buddhist Temple- it is absolutely beautiful!
The trip has confirmed many preconceived notions which, again, I will share at a later time while I'm not here.
I will tell ya that after 3 days in Beijing I think I may have a smidgen of the 'iron lung' or at least some version of it...holy s*** the pollution/smog is beyond disgusting & the street vendors, aka "mosquitos", are RELENTLESS & THAT is an understatement.
So, must bail. I'll try to write within the next couple of days. Hopefully the next stop will allow me to hookup my camera to share some photos with you~
