Visit to the Taj
Well after our manic first day escaping con men we were glad we had kidnaped Suneil our taxi man for today. It was a 4 hour drive to agra starting a 7am. I will find it hard to explain what we saw!
The poverty is emmense. people knocking on the windows of the car literally begging for money. Children as young as 2 or 3 with no clothes standing in the traffic asking for food! (tristans mc donalds chips went down very well with one young child!) Cows roam freely on the streets and the highways. The men just wee anywhere they are standing!! have seen naked ashmen priests walking around. Elephants and camels. People just sleep everywhere and anywhere! it is soooo sad to see!
We stopped halfway for some food near snake charmers and dancing monkeys, watched people selling their homemade necklaces and food along the toll booths and saw people keep warm by their fires. It is very cold here at the moment just like the weather back home so it is hard to think how cold most of these people are with no shoes or clothing. my heart is breaking more each day!
We stopped off to see a tomb of some dead guy (well obviously) which was stunning and then we went to the place I have been looking forward to the most The TAJ yeay!
We had to leave suneil and get a rickshaw to the taj gates which i felt guilty about as he was only a little man but at least it was mostly a down sloping road!
We had to line up seperately to be frisked before going in which was quick for ladies but a long process for the men (if you know what I mean ha ha frisky buiseness).
After walking down the courtyard and through the archway you were there and it was amazing absolutely stunning!
We got a photographer to take some pictures of the both of us together as this is quite hard to do yourselves when everyone is out to nick your stuff! he had a lush camera and it was worth having some decent pics of us in this beatutiful place.
So picture this everyone..... the sun is shining.... we are in beautiful gardens... ....everyone clears out of the way for us so we can sit at the foot of the taj and while we sit next to each other Tristan produces a ring and asks me to marry him!!.......of course I said yes! ( it was very embaressing infront of so many people) so now we are ....after many years... engaged!! (captured on film for all to see when we get back xx)
Anyway this blog is soo long I will rap it up ... we left the taj after a few hours and met our rickshaw man outside to get a lift back to the car! this time it was an uphill journey and we felt really bad. Tristan jumped out and got on the bike and peddled up the hill much to the delight of the locals who were laughing ha ha bless him!
Then back home to dehli, tiered but happy.!
P.s excuse my spelling the keyboard i am using has no letters on it so i am trying my best to remember where the letters are xx lol
