From Sunny Thailand, we left the banana milkshakes and Sangsom buckets for Hong Kong, our final stop on the pals in motion tour. We arrived on the 14th with a week to spare until our flight back to London on the 22nd.
Knowing we'd arrive in Hong Kong quite late, we booked accommodation a few days before in the Chunking Mansions building of the Kowloon area of Hong Kong, off the main Hong Kong island. However, we were a bit disappointed when we arrived to find that Paul's room was no bigger than his suitcase and Mak and Crust's room hardly big enough for one. Although, as it was getting late, we decided to stay and look for somewhere better in the morning. Thankfully, we found a much better place for only a bit more money the following day.
After the initial disappointment of sleeping in a ghetto, we were pleasantly surprised by how exclusive and up-market Hong Kong was. We found endless department stores with thousands of designer shops all over the city, and even more so on the main Hong Kong island. As we were all pretty low on cash and the prices similar to that of England, we couldn't really afford to buy much. Although, we did manage to get some presents and have a good look at the official products we had bought fake copies of in Thailand.
Down by the bay the Hong Kong skyline was brilliant, it almost didn't look real. We all think it would be a great place to live, if you had the money, with the amount of decent shops, bars, clubs and restaurants. Fortunately for us, we managed to find some cheaper restaurants to make sure we didn't go over budget.
After a few days in Hong Kong, we all agreed that a week would be too long to spend in the city as there weren't that many sights, apart from the endless amount of shops. So, we brought our London flight forward a couple of days to the 20th to arrive back in England on the 21st and bring our long journey to an end.
Thanks to everyone who left us messages, we hope you all enjoyed reading the blogs and checking out the website, and we will see you all very soon. x x x
