I have downloaded some snapshots of my travels so far! Some of them haven't been rotated... but I not into wasting the time going back and doing it!!! Too much wine to drink and things to see!! I am only downloading my snapshots.... the images for class are still private until I have some serious time for editing!!! (In other words.... don't think that these are the "real" deal!) Florence is amazing. So much art and history here. Impossible to experience it all in one week. Thank God I have two more!!! We have had three walking tours so far in the city. I think I might actually be able to make my way through it by myself. I think some of the pictures that I downloaded will show you how the city looks. Lots of tourist too!! Most of the people speak english because of this. THANK GOD!! (However, I haven't fully gotten the "rules" down and I got snapped at by a man at a coffee shop!! Long story short... the locals are NOT the friendliest people. Oh well.) We took a day trip the day before yesterday.... First stop.... San Gimignano. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. My snaps of it do not do it justice at all. I would sell my right arm to live there! (Well maybe not the entire arm...) But I have NEVER seen such a beautiful place in all of my life. Very small, very old and very romantic. Second stop.... Siena. Much bigger. More of a city then San Gimignano. Beautiful as well. The streets were narrow and wound up and down hills. The city is split up into districts and every year they have a huge horse race in the square. (There is a square in almost every town/city we have been to and it is where all their main events take place.) Anyway... So in this square the horses race and the winning district recieves a banner. Apparently it is VERY competitive and the jockies beat each other while they ride!! Sounds so exciting! To bad it doesn't happen till October! Yesterday we took the bus to the other side of the Arno all the way to the top of the hill. First we toured the Iris Garden... pictures to come... then we walked up what seemed to be a mountain... to the church where the monks chant everyday at 5:30. Watching the monks chant was absolutely breathtaking and spiritually overwhelming. Then we walked to a little restaurant and had dinner with, of course, wine!! The night ended at the local bar, JJ Chathdrels, at around 1 am! The morning hurt a little... yes. The days seem to go by sooooo fast here. Before I know it it's 12 am! (I'm sure I won't be saying that towrds the end! I have been a little homesick... or as they call it "culture shocked"... but I think I am over it now. I just miss everyone. Wish I could experience it all with you guys. (Some of the people on the trip are rather childish!) My roomates are great!! I am VERY glad I was lump into the house with the older women! They are lookin after me! I guess I better get to work. I have been here at school for a while and have done nothing but write this! WHOOPS! Good thing Kenda is my teacher! (She is awesome about wanting us to experience Italy outside instead of in the classroom!) Can't wait to her everyones voices soon! Love you and miss you. (Definately need to go now... starting to tear up!) Ciao! P  (excuse my spelling... spell check is not working for some reason.)
