So...It's been a while! Since leaving dreamy Kho Tao, the weather has deteriorated but the adventure has accelerated.
In Bangkok me and Chris had a nice time - we went for massages ate a really tasty/expensive meal (my bday present) and went on a serious bender. Also we saw some kick boxing which was so cool - we got the cheap tix with all the locals who had this frantic betting system going on between them.
After that we flew to Hanoi where we saw the usual sights and again went out (this time on our way home we were on a moto taxi that stopped for this other moto driven by hookers - mental...we had to literally run away from them).
After that we went to this national park called Cuc Phoung which was incredible jungle that we motorbiked through. We stayed the night in this deserted, run-down and atmospheric 70's built resort. We also visited this cave which was incredible and full of Wierd insects/animals. The weather though was awful - it rained the whole way there on Motos. We also drank rice wine with a hostel manager - fun!
Following this we did a 2 night Halong Bau cruise which was so beautiful. Chris however was stung by a jellyfish and got infected - nightmare cos he was out of it for his final few days!!
Saigon was next and we pretty much cacouned ourselves in a ritzy hotel and went shopping. Then Chris left and I was left all alone!
That night I went to a hostel and met this Irish guy and and Australian girl and we seriously went out. Snails, beer, whiskey, monkeys, moto drivers, camera thefts, huge collective memory blanks etc. Crazy!
We all decided that Saigon - although fun - was not nice. We left for a few days to a chilled out Mekong town which was nice. We slept and ate a lot!
By this point my Vietnam visa was running out so I got a flight to KL to see of it was worth travelling around Malaysia. It wasn't - monsoon was in full swing and I now haven't seen the sun in a month (since kho Tao). Did have fun and saw some cool Hindu caves, the petronas towers and went up really high and watched thunder hit KL at dusk. Also met some fun people at the hostel!
Anyway, although I will definately go to Malaysia in the future, the rain is too much and I'm now at the airport awaiting a flight to Bali. This looks like the most interesting/sunny place in Asia (touch wood!!!) and I'm hoping so much for sun! Plan now is to work my way to Flores/maybe Timor. Will have to see how that goes tho ( things are on flux and I still don't have things straight in my head). We shall seeeee
