We arrived in Sydney and were delivered to our hostel home for 10 days, can't say it was the nicest hostel we've been in, in fact it was the worst, but never mind it was cheap!!
We quickly familiarised ourselves with the city, visiting Darling Harbour, the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, the Botanical Gardens and Bondi oh and of course plenty of shops! It seemed we wanted to humanise ourselves again as soon as we got to the City, getting haircuts and I brought makeup and chucking out clothes that should never again see the light of day - enough of the backpacker look!!
We met up with the Irish (Hi guys) who we had met while travelling down the east coast, they have landed the nicest flat in Bondi Junction, so we went on a mad night out and then crashed at theirs, then due to Owens all day long hangover we spent the day there too, or he did in bed, I went across the road to the biggest shopping centre in the southern hemisphere, were at the pet shop you can literally buy "that doggie in the window" crazy.
The Melbourne cup day equalled big celebrations and of course we joined in!! Meeting the Irish and checking out the pubs of Sydney until sarah had trouble walking! . On my birthday, Owen planned a cool day out going up the sydney tower for 360' views of the city and then we got the ferry over to Manly, checked out the beach, not that it was sunny and the shops, in the evening we went to the nicest restaurant with probably the best view in sydney, it was right on the waterfront with the Harbour bridge on one side and the opera house on the other, really pretty.
We left Sydney two days ago to head for Singapore we both didn't want to leave Australia, we've had so much fun and love the place! but it's homeward bound for us now...
