Today we have made our way from Buladelah to Coffs Harbour travelling through some beautiful lakeland scenery. The weather has improved inland but the sea is still dreadfully rough and dramatic with incredibly high waves. Over rhe seashore hangs a thick sea mist which dissipates just a few hundred metres inland. We have passed a lot of evidence of flooding and storm damage with many trees blown down.
The motorway is flooded between ourselves and Byron Bay where we are heading and there is no detour possible so we may have to sit things out here for a while.
For the first time we have risked a youth hostel and were very relieved to find another wrinkly couple from the UK also staying here. We actually managed to use the communal kitchen and cook ourselves a meal! The accommodation is spotless but very basic with no furniture to speak of and no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. It's not that cheap so I'm reserving judgement at the moment.

H & R -fellow wanderers Thinking of you both as we watch the news about the weather in Aus. Keep safe - and dry!
Lindsay Think we are through the worst now! Byron Bay is lovely though floods made it difficult to get here. Enjoy your own travels!
