We've got our thirty day visas in our pocket and baby we're ready to roll to mainland China! (We'll need a pit stop in one city to extend them, but that's a small matter for another blog). Despite our apartment, which although in a great spot, is not one of our favorites, we've enjoyed the big city of Hong Kong. Hot pots, the Peak, Disneyland, Star Ferry, the crush of walking with the Chinese. It's been an experience. The Hong Kong side has a strong western influence, but when you are on the Kowloon side, which is where we stayed, it's completely Chinese. So it's been a good prep for the coming weeks where we don't expect to see English anywhere. We'll have the copy of Point It, which we bought in Ghent, Belgium, at the ready.
Our route through China for 30+ days will be Guilin, Yangshou, Kunming, Ligang, Xi'an, Shanghai and Beijing. We're looking to meeting up with some new friends we made in Bangkok who live in Xi'an , an old friend from high school in Shanghai, and friends from CO meeting us in Beijing.
Let's roll! AG
